Operational Learning Laboratory

As mentioned throughout, one of the greatest challenges for Auxiliary operational crews is maintaining proficiency in a state of readiness between actual communications, surface, or flight operations.

The concept of this Learning Laboratory is to leverage advanced simulation techniques and design flexibility to tailor exercises to various experience levels and group sizes from 2 to 20, enabling immersive, real-time exercises of their choosing, with the goal of fostering improved critical thinking, teamwork, and rapid decision-making in realistic scenarios that are typical and relatable to the Auxiliary’s Northeast District – Southern Region’s AOR activities.

Another benefit of this Learning Laboratory concept is that it provides a location for members to test new programs or ideas and practice plans or procedures. Its modular design enables participants to choose not only the event type but also the complexity and urgency, simulating everything from routine patrols to multi-agency response operations under both planned and unplanned conditions, thereby improving operational confidence and readiness.

By leveraging innovation and imagination through advanced simulation technology across diverse scenarios, the Operational Learning Laboratory can bridge the gap between textbook knowledge, field proficiencies, and real-world realities.
