Value-Added Personal Benefits

Although originally intended for use as a procedure and task trainer for patrol and SAR applications, this simulator, FAA-certified as an Advanced Aviation Training Device, provides additional benefits.

Once exclusive to government agencies, airlines, and corporate flight departments, the exponential growth of computing power over the past twenty years has now made this once-privileged level of simulation technology accessible to general aviation users.

In addition to leveraging this newly available technology to focus on the type of flying that AuxAir does, this simulator can also offer valuable currency and practice experiences that can be applied to anyone's personal flying. This includes approaches, pattern work, and taxiing at unfamiliar airports, performing abnormal procedures in a risk-free environment, as well as FAA-loggable tasks and times:

Maintaining Instrument Currency:

(i) Execute and log six Instrument approaches within the previous six months .

(ii) Holding procedures and tasks.

(iii) Intercepting and tracking courses through the use of navigational electronic systems.

In addition, the following times are also loggable:

  • Up to 20 Hours of experience toward an Instrument Rating.
  • Up to 2.5 hours toward a Private Pilot Certificate.
  • Up to 50 hours toward a Commercial Certificate.
  • Up to 25 hours toward an ATP Certificate.
